ART FAIR TOKYO 2010 was held at Tokyo International Forum, Yurakucho, Tokyo. This time, HIRO GALLERY introduced the new works by Shoko Imano in a one-man show style. Made up of layers of delicate colors, Shoko Imano’s works always give us comfort as if we are surrounded by light. And we can enjoy the composition from his unique point of view.

The motif of this exhibition is wedding. We welcomed visitors with various works about wedding from small to large. The woman’s skin seen through the wedding dress has faint, sheer and mild ambience.

The artist Shoko Imano sets his theme as “border,” and consistently pursues the expression of it for a long time. This time, the central theme is presented in the forms of Veil which blocks out visitors’ eyes, Invitation Card that divides the usual days and the opposite. The touch of the paintings is left soft and ambiguous. So it reminds us of the fact that the “border” is not only a rigid line that divides something, but also a medium that connect each other. アートフェア東京2010が有楽町・東京国際フォーラムにて開催されました。ヒロ画廊は今回、今野尚行の新作を個展形式で紹介いたしました。デリケートな色の階層からなる今野尚行の作品は、いつも光に包み込まれるような心地よさと、独特の視点による構図の妙を楽しめます。

今回の出展作品のモチーフはウェディング。結婚式にまつわる大小さまざまの作品をブースに配し、来場者を迎えました。花嫁のウェディングドレスのヴェールから覗く女性の肌は、淡く透き通るような、柔らかな印象を与えます。

今野尚行は自身の作家としてのテーマを「境界」という概念に定め、その表現を長年一貫して追及しています。今回それは人の視線をさえぎるヴェールや、日常と非日常を分かつ招待状といったかたちで表現されています。その画面の感触はあくまでやわらかであいまいなまま残されており、境界は何か二つのものを区切るものであると同時に、それらを媒介し、つなぎ合わせるものでもあるということを感じさせます。
