Conclave, the election for New Pontiff, was held at Sistine Chapel in Vatican City from March 12, 2013. The pontiff is the Chief of Catholic, which has 1 billion and 2 hundred million believers, and this election got considerable attention from all over the world.

An Italian Sculptor Cecco Bonanotte made urns（ballot boxes）for the ex-Conclave held in 2005, and these urns were also used for the election this time.

After the announcement for resigning by Benedict XVI, who became the first pope in 600 years to resign from the role before his death, the Papal Conclave was taken place. On the second day of Conclave, at the 5th election, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina was elected. The papal name is Francesco, named after Francis of Assisi.

2013年3月12日より、ヴァチカン市国のシスティーナ礼拝堂にて、コンクラーベ（教皇選挙）が開催されました。ローマ教皇は１２億人の信徒を抱えるカトリック世界の最高責任者で、選挙には世界中から大きな注目が集まりました。

前回のコンクラーベ（２００５年）の際にイタリアの彫刻家、チェッコ・ボナノッテが制作した投票箱が今回の選挙でも使用されています。

投票箱紹介動画

先日のベネディクト１６世の辞意表明により、６００年ぶりの存命中の教皇退位、新教皇の選挙開催が決定しました。コンクラーベ二日目、通算5回目の投票の末、アルゼンチンのホルヘ・マリオ・ベルゴリオ枢機卿が選出されました。教皇名は中世の聖人にちなみ「フランチェスコ」となります。
