On 11th September in 2006, an opening ceremony was held at the Musee du Luxembourg in Paris, commemorating the completion of the new bronze portal to the museum. The portal was produced by Cecco Bonanotte. a leading modern Italian sculptor, who is famous for making the bronze portal of the new entrance to the Vatican Museums.

The museum was founded by Louis XVIII in 1818, to display the works by contemporary artists at that time. Originally it was a palace set up in 17th century, and the great series of picture by Rubens “The life of Marie de Medicis” decorated the corridor of the Luxembourg Palace at that time (They were now collected in the Musee du Louvre). Now, the Musee du Luxembourg is open during the special exhibitions only.

2006年9月11日に、パリのリュクサンブール美術館の新しいブロンズ大扉のオープニングセレモニーが開催されました。制作したのは2000年にヴァチカン美術館の新正面入り口ブロンズ大扉を手がけたことでも知られる現代イタリアを代表する彫刻家、チェッコ･ボナノッテ。

同美術館は1818年にルイ18世が同時代の美術家の作品を展示するため開設されました。もとは17世紀に設営された宮殿で、ルーベンスの大連作「マリー・ド・メディシスの生涯」も、当時このリュクサンブール宮殿の大回廊を飾っていたとされています（現在はルーヴル美術館収蔵）。現在は特別展のときのみ公開されています。
